Wedding Update

For those inquiring minds (aka our good friend Christina) I thought I'd take a minute to update everyone on the wedding situation. Obviously since we haven't said anything yet as far as an exact date goes, August is now not an option. There has just been a bunch of things that have come up preventing us from setting a date yet. We're now hoping for middle of September, but realistically it may be moved back further, which sucks, but there's really nothing we can do about it, so we will make the best of it! I have started planning and getting things ready because once we are able to set a date, it'll be a really quick thing. Here's an update of what all has been decided on and done so far:

I have my wedding dress and it has already been altered!! I bought my wedding dress from Kathleen's bridal in Kaysville and it's kind of nostalgic for me because my very first dance I went to in high school I rented a dress from Kathleen herself, but she was doing the dress thing out of the basement of her house and now she has made two old houses in Kaysville into two stores - one for wedding dresses and the other for prom dresses. The dress I got was the very first one I tried on - actually my mom and sister had gone in there a week earlier to look at dresses and had picked that one out as one I would just love, and they were right! The dress was perfect and when I tried it on, my sister started crying, so we know it's a keeper! Anyways, I've now had it altered so it fits perfectly and I'm going to leave a recommendation for anyone who needs a dress altered. I went to a lady in Syracuse name Terri Renner (I think that's her last name) and she was so nice and very knowledgable. She estimated she'd have my dress done in a week and actually had it done in just over one day and did it perfectly!! She's amazing! She also made my sash that I'm wearing with my dress - an aqua color to match my shoes. She did an amazing job and I'd highly recommend her to anyone - if you need alterations, let me know and I can hook you up with her number. All in all I'm loving my dress!!

We've also decided on wedding colors - we're doing shades of blue - mainly aqua, dark blue and light blue and then we'll have a green accent - the green is hard to explain. If any of you have seen the orchid flowers that are green - that's the color, but for those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about - it's like a charteuse (or however you spell it). I also know what I want the decorations to look like depending on when we do get married. My sisters have ordered their dresses in the colors already and mom has ordered hers, so that part is done and Kurtis' family has been updated on the colors as well. I'll probably be ordering my dad, brother and Kurtis' dad's clothing today or tomorrow. The guys will be wearing a shade of blue dress shirt and then tan/sand colored pants. Depending on if we're able to do the wedding in mid-Sept, they will not have to wear ties at the reception and will get to wear sandals. We're still working on what Kurtis will wear. I want our reception to not feel stuffy and formal, but still look nice.

I have also called a photography place I want to go with to see about getting our engagement pictures done soon so we can have those ready to go once we can send out invitations. They weren't in the office on Saturday when I called so hopefully I can get in touch with them soon. I've also found someone to do our cake, so I'm excited about that...now we just need to decide the details on the cake.

I have ideas of where the reception will be held, but that can't be a for sure thing until a date is set, but we are planning on getting married in the Bountiful temple - that will be a for sure thing. We are doing a different kind of invitation for those invited to the temple ceremony and that invitation has been started to be created, which I am super excited about!

All-in-all, things are slowly coming together and we're hoping to get as much as we can planned or completed before having a date so that once we do finally set the date and have to rush, it won't be so stressful!

Big News!!

WE'RE ENGAGED!!!

Yes that's right folks! Kurtis proposed! I wanted to take this moment to apologize that this is just now getting posted...we've been engaged since Thursday! I was very surprised! I mean, we were making plans, but I didn't have a clue when he was going to propose and even during his proposal I was still oblivious! It was so cute! He put a bandana around our (well more my) dog Dozer and strung the ring on the bandana. Well, I was upstairs getting ready for our co-ed softball game later that night and he came up to the top of the stairs and asked me when I'd want to start telling people we were engaged. Well, I thought it was kind of a random question, but didn't think anything of it so I just told him I don't know and asked why. So then he asked the question again. This time I stopped and still said I didn't know and then asked, "Why, do you have a ring or something?" He said, "Maybe..." So then I was confused but still not really paying attention to my surroundings. The thing was, Kurtis was looking down at the dogs pretty much the whole time we were talking!! So, finally he calls Dozer's name and I look down and lo and behold there's the ring! I was so excited that I didn't even really say yes! I said "Yay!" and then we put the ring on (which is completely gorgeous!!). About a couple hours later, I realized I never actually gave him an answer, so I told him (in case he didn't already know) that my answer was yes. So...all in all it was a very sweet proposal and funny at the same time because I didn't even get what was going on!

I'm so excited!! We don't have an exact date set just yet, but we're hoping for August so this will be a stress filled time while I plan, but luckily have a lot of people willing to help! I can't believe we're getting married and I feel so very lucky to have such an amazing guy that I'll get to spend eternity with!

Weekend Fun

Yes.... we are still alive. It's been a while but nothing exciting really has been going on in our lives much. We play in a softball league on Thursday nights but other than that nothing has really been worthy of blog material. If you ever want to laugh your guts out you should come watch the coed league on Thursday's that we play in. It's amazing. Anyways this weekend was good times in Roy. Every year Kurtis' work does this charitable deal where they choose 5-10 employee's to go to Guatemala and build a school and get some school supplies for the kids. To raise money for the deal they have a bowl-a-thon and it gets a bit crazy. This year we made our own shirts. We went and bought some white shirts from Walmart and a tie dye kit and went at it. We bowl once a year at that so it's obviously for fun. It was really fun though. We got a TON of great prizes including Kurtis getting a 3 month pass to Gold Gym.... and a few coupons for some dry cleaning... so the raffle God's think we are fat and dirty... awesome!

When Dogs Attack PT 2

Nicole got those punching balloons for her birthday and so she brought them home from work and we went out back with Daisy and Dozer.... Good times

Tuesday, March 25, 2008

Every once in a while Dozer our American Bulldog gets in this mood where everything and anything that Nicole does bugs him so he repeatedly jumps on her. We were watching either The First 48 or Intervention and we had to take a little break because Dozer went psychotic. It was pretty entertaining.

Fun in the sun

We got back from Europe on the 11th of November and left on Nov 18 to Maui with Nicole's family for a week. I really don't know of any better way to spend Thanksgiving. It was rad. The week we were back was a week from hell. We were buying a condo in Perry and we were going to be doing our own flooring. We had to get the floor done by the time we left on the 18th. It was a crazy week but with the help of Rich who did our ENTIRE tile and with Nicole's brother and dad we got the wood done. It was so nice to finally be able to sit and relax on a beach for a week. November was an exciting month for us!!

THIS is why I'm hot

Getting ready to go up. I am pretty much soiling myself at this point
